The Animal Rescue League of Boston’s Center for Shelter Dogs is pleased to announce a special lecture featuring Bill Bruce, Director of Animal and Bylaw Services for the City of Calgary, Alberta. Bill’s innovative animal services program, also known as “The Calgary Model,” revolutionizes the way dog owners, local officials, animal related groups, and animal control officers work together on canine-related challenges in their communities. Bill will discuss how Calgary implemented this successful model and its focus on building a responsible pet owner community by utilizing

Safe Capture: Chemical Immobilization of Animals
November 4-5

This program will extensively cover immobilization techniques in species commonly encountered by:  law enforcement, animal and rabies control, humane and animal rescue personnel,  disaster preparedness including: feral dogs, feral cats, escaped domestic livestock, urban wildlife, and exotic animals. Also includes "in shelter" techniques for less distressful animal handling & pre-euthanasia applications, as well as techniques for rapid, safe, and quiet incapacitation of guard dogs.
