Request for Speakers 2022

The New England Federation of Humane Societies (NEFHS) is currently seeking speakers for our 76th Annual Conference, taking place April 2 – April 4, 2022 at the Radisson Hotel in Nashua, New Hampshire.

COVID-19 NOTE: While we are currently planning to hold the 2022 Conference in person, we are also closely monitoring COVID-19 guidance from the CDC and local public health departments, as it evolves. In the (hopefully unlikely) event of any changes to our Conference format, we will provide updates on our website and notify our speakers and attendees directly.

Proposal Topics
We welcome proposals that would be of interest to all levels of experience of those working and volunteering in the animal welfare field. This year our theme is “Back to the Future”, as we regain our footing after pandemic life and look to use what we’ve learned going forward. We invite topics and ideas from all aspects of animal welfare.

Some suggested topics include:
➢ Development & Fundraising
➢ Communications, Marketing & Social Media
➢ Staff Management
➢ Field Services/Animal Cruelty/Investigations
➢ Advocacy
➢ Wildlife
➢ Animal Behavior
➢ Shelter Medicine
➢ Diversity & Inclusion
➢ Volunteer Management
➢ Self Care/ Compassion Fatigue
➢ Operations

The NEFHS Annual Conference drew nearly 500 animal welfare professionals and volunteers from almost 200 unique organizations representing 24 U.S. states and Canada during our last in person conference. Our audience ranges from those new to the field to seasoned animal welfare professionals. When creating a proposal, speakers should have a specific audience in mind in terms of both role (animal care, adoptions, senior management, fundraising, etc.) and experience (new to more experienced).

To be considered as a speaker, programs must:

  • Be educational in nature; sales presentations will not be accepted.
  • Should be current and original (with appropriate credit/citations for content that is not your own).
  • Last 75 minutes (60 minutes for presentation & 15 minutes for Q & A).
  • Number of speakers need to be submitted with the proposal. The addition of presenters after the proposal has been received will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Lodging and Attendance
In order to encourage and support conference participation, we are committed to maintaining the lowest registration fee possible. Conference admission on the day you are speaking and conference meals are complimentary for invited speakers. This offer specifically excludes stand-alone programming and events. Lodging may be provided, as needed, the day of or before presenting and will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Proposals can be submitted through the form below and must be received by September 24, 2021 to be considered for the 2022 Conference. You will receive notification of the status of your proposal by November 2021.
