The New England Federation of Humane Societies (NEFHS) is currently seeking speakers for our Annual Conference, taking place March 24-26 in Burlington, MA.
Proposal Topics
We welcome proposals that would be of interest to all levels of experience of those working and volunteering in the animal welfare field. We invite topics and ideas from all aspects of animal welfare and from speakers both within the New England region and beyond.
Topics may cover DEI, animal behavior, customer service, human resources, owner-support programs, marketing or fundraising, shelter medicine, field services, leadership, shelter operations and more!
Audience: The 2024 NEFHS Annual Conference drew nearly 300 animal welfare professionals and volunteers from all over New England and beyond. Our audience ranges from those new to the field to seasoned animal welfare professionals. When creating a proposal, speakers should have a specific audience in mind in terms of role (animal care, adoptions, senior management, fundraising, etc.) and experience (new to more experienced).
To be considered as a speaker, programs must:
-
Be educational in nature; sales presentations will not be accepted.
-
Should be current and original (with appropriate credit/citations for content that is not your own).
-
Last 60 minutes and include a few minutes for Q&A and discussion.
-
Past presentations with case studies and actual examples have been very well received.
-
A maximum of four speakers. Sessions with multiple speakers should emphasize each speaker’s unique contribution.
Lodging and Attendance:
In order to address barriers for speakers, we will provide complimentary conference registration for the entire 3-day conference and one hotel night either the night before or the night of the presentation. If selected, you will receive a registration code to waive the conference registration. Please do not book your hotel. If selected, the NEFHS will reserve your room.
As budget allows, we will review requests for additional support of up to one additional hotel night (two total) for those traveling from a longer distance and a travel stipend of up to $250. We kindly ask speakers whose organizations are able to cover their travel costs to do so in order to ensure support for other speakers.
Proposals can be submitted here and must be received by August 8, 2024 to be considered for the 2025 Conference. You will receive notification of the status of your proposal by the end of October.
If you have any questions, please contact Sue Hoxie, NEFHS conference planner, at shoxie@newenglandfed.org with questions.
Thank you for your interest!
Sincerely,
The New England Federation of Humane Societies Board & Advisors
