Annual Conference Scholarships
Every year, the New England Federation of Humane Societies (NEFHS) provides scholarships to support attendance at our Annual Conference, thanks to the generous funding from The John T. and Jane A. Wiederhold Foundation. These scholarships are designed to help qualified individuals from animal welfare and protection organizations participate in this enriching event.
About The John T. and Jane A. Wiederhold Foundation
The John T. and Jane A. Wiederhold Foundation is dedicated to supporting animal welfare and protection organizations. Their funding emphasizes the safety and wellbeing of dogs and cats and extends to organizations devoted to protecting and conserving endangered wildlife.
In adherence to the grantor’s preferences, priority will be given to applicants from organizations with annual budgets of less than $500,000 and whose organization has not sent anyone to the conference in the past 3 years. However, applicants not meeting these criteria may still apply, and additional scholarships may be awarded based on available funds.

Scholarship information
Scholarship funds may be awarded to cover hotel costs and/or conference registration fees. Scholarships awarded to cover conference registration includes lunch catered at the conference each day, but does not include meals outside the conference or other personal expenses.
NEFHS will award full and partial scholarships to allow for maximum use of Scholarship funds.
Important Notice Regarding Conference Registration
Please wait to register for the conference until you receive notification from the Scholarship Committee regarding your scholarship status. While we do offer refunds in accordance with our Refund Policy, all refunds are subject to a non-refundable $20 administrative fee to cover processing costs.
Scholarship Application Timeline
- December 1, 2025: Applications Open
- December 18, 2025: Applications Close
- All applicants will be notified no later than 12/31/25 on the status of their application.
Who can apply?
Priority will be given to those who meet the below criteria; however we encourage all to apply, and all applications are considered while funds permit.
Selection priorities:
- Applicants from organizations within New England (Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island)
- Applicants who work/volunteer for organizations with annual budgets of less than $500,000
- First time attendees
In order to ensure your application is considered, please read the information below and abide by the requirements for application submission. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
Scholarship requirements & conditions
- Applications & supporting documents must be received by December 18, 2025 to be considered
- Applications must be submitted online
- You must initial the Statement of Commitment and sign the application
- Each person applying for a scholarship must submit a separate application
- Scholarship recipient information (name, email, and scholarship funding details) will be shared with the Scholarship funders for reporting.
Applications are now closed for the 2026 Conference. All applicants will hear back by 12/31/25.
